Health & Safety Approach
At EMSTEEL, the safety of our employees, contractors, and visitors is our top priority, no matter where we operate. We strive to embed this culture across all our operations, ensuring that safety always comes first.
Collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders is vital to achieving a safe and healthy workplace. We are building a culture of shared vigilance, where risks are clearly understood, monitored, and managed. Best practices are shared across teams, and appropriate actions are taken at all levels. Employees are trained in relevant safety standards, and every individual—whether an employee, contractor, or visitor—is expected to strictly follow our Life Saving Rules.
In addition to tracking Lost Time Injuries (LTIs), we also actively monitor and record near-misses, encouraging everyone to report them. Our focus on analyzing and preventing Potential Serious Injuries and Fatalities (PSIFs) helps us gain deeper insights into how incidents occur, and how they can be prevented.
To further engage our teams, we have implemented a Health & Safety competition program across all our plants. Best-performing plants and sections are recognized and rewarded on a quarterly basis. This healthy competition encourages all employees to take part in safety activities, ensuring that every plant and section consistently delivers improved safety results.
At EMSTEEL, safety is a shared responsibility. We empower all employees and contractors to actively identify and suggest improvements to safety practices. Everyone at EMSTEEL has access to clear channels for raising safety concerns, and each person is authorized to refuse or stop any activity they perceive as unsafe.
Our commitment to safety is reflected in the continuous updates we make to our risk assessment protocols, inspection processes, health and safety reviews, and incident investigations. To reinforce this, we regularly conduct training and coaching sessions for both employees and contractors, complemented by year-round awareness campaigns.
To further engage our workforce, EMSTEEL has a dedicated Safety Rewards and Recognition Program, which monitors safety performance across the organization and celebrates meaningful contributions to our safety initiatives.
Our Group also adopts a robust HSE governance and performance program, featuring a dedicated dashboard that tracks KPIs and fosters discussions around safety performance to drive improvement.
To boost safety management, we have implemented MySHEQ, an innovative digital platform designed to enhance safety performance and streamline critical HSE processes.
Health & Safety compliance and management
At EMSTEEL, we are committed to adhering to the highest Health & Safety standards and regulations. Our practices align with internationally recognized certifications, including ISO 45001 and ADOSH-SF management system requirements. Across all operations and project sites, we proactively identify and mitigate hazards, striving to engage every employee and contractor in fostering a safe working environment.
We utilize a comprehensive risk management system and a hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards wherever possible and reduce risks to ALARP levels. To ensure strict compliance with these standards, EMSTEEL has implemented robust inspection and monitoring programs, focusing on the prevention of serious injuries and fatalities.
Our in-house emergency response team is always prepared to handle any situation, and we have a strong hazard observation and inspection program that engages all stakeholders in identifying and mitigating risks. We remain dedicated to continuous improvement in health and safety management, aiming for 100% compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Health & Safety Stewardship
At EMSTEEL, the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and neighboring communities is our highest priority. We emphasize a deep commitment to Health & Safety, integrating it as a fundamental element of our operations. We emphasize environmental responsibility through rigorous internal and external audits, and all our operational sites are Health & Safety Management Systems (ISO 45001) certified.
Our principles guide our practices, ensuring a safe and sustainable workplace:
- Working in a healthy, safe, and environmentally responsible way is a condition for continued employment.
- All injuries, illnesses, and HSE incidents can and must be prevented
- Line management is responsible and accountable for HSE performance
- Safety excellence is at the heart of business success
- Involvement and training of all employees is essential to achieving HSE excellence
- HSE risks must be reviewed and corrected periodically
- Off-site health and safety is an important part of the HSE effort
