15 Emirati Employees Graduate from Emirates Steel’s Future Leaders Training Program

    January 15, 2019

January 15 2019, Abu Dhabi, UAE: Emirates Steel, the only integrated steel plant in the UAE and a subsidiary of the General Holding Corporation (SENAAT), has celebrated the graduation of fifteen of its Emirati employees who successfully completed the first course of its ‘Future Leaders’ training program.

Launched in 2018, the program seeks to advance the skills of UAE-national employees across Emirates Steel, and is part of the company’s efforts to support the Emiratization targets outlined within UAE Vision 2021. The first part of the course, which lasts eight months, focuses on several key topics including project management, communication, team effectiveness, decision making, public speaking, financing, and well-being.

“Through the Future Leaders Program, we have honed and developed the skills and abilities of fifteen of our Emirati employees in several fields, bolstering their professional capabilities with the company,” said Engineer Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, CEO of Emirates Steel. “The employees studied under the supervision of highly qualified specialists, as part of our efforts to build an integrated team of future leaders, capable of maintaining the company’s distinguished trajectory and to guarantee the sustainability of its growth.”

“Through such initiatives, our workforce is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure Emirates Steel continues to meet or exceed the highest international standards of excellence. In addition, the training program supports the UAE’s achievement of national Emiratization objectives. The program work in tandem with the government’s efforts to achieve sustainable knowledge growth and professional development, in order to prepare citizens to assume top positions in all fields.”

Over the past year, Emirates Steel has hired 60 UAE nationals, bringing the total number employed at the company to approximately 500 UAE nationals, thus representing 21% of the workforce; 60% are engineers and technicians, as well as 70% currently holding senior level positions.

In line with its Emiratization strategy, Emirates Steel will be participating in Tawdheef, the region’s leading Emiratization and career development event, to be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center from 28 to 30 January 2019. Emirates Steel will partake in this event under the SENAAT umbrella, the UAE’s largest industrial investment holding company, with the aim of securing 70 potential vacant technical positions within its organization.
